What to Eat After a New Crown

What to Eat After a New Crown

The first day with a new crown is mostly about temperature, texture, and giving the bite a chance to settle.

A new crown is strong, but the tooth underneath and the gum around it may be tender for a day or two. The anesthetic can also linger, which makes it easy to bite a cheek without noticing. Soft foods are the comfortable choice until the numbness is completely gone.

Yogurt, eggs, soup, pasta, and ripe fruit are easy on a fresh crown. Skip very sticky candy, hard nuts, and ice for the first couple of days, and try to chew on the other side until the bite feels even. A crown should not feel high. If one tooth hits before the others, a short adjustment visit fixes it.

Call Crown Pointe Dentistry if the bite still feels off after a day, or if the temporary crown comes loose before your permanent crown is ready. Bring the temporary with you if you still have it.
