Dental Implants

The gold standard for permanently replacing missing teeth.

Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. Unlike dentures or bridges, implants become a permanent part of your jawbone, providing a stable, natural-feeling foundation for replacement teeth.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant consists of three components: the titanium implant post (surgically placed in jawbone), the abutment (connector above gumline), and the crown (visible tooth replacement). The implant fuses with your jawbone through osseointegration, preventing bone loss and providing the most natural tooth replacement available.

Key Benefits:

  • Permanent Solution: Last 25+ years or a lifetime with proper care
  • Preserve Jawbone: Stimulate bone growth, preventing bone loss
  • Natural Look and Feel: Function just like natural teeth
  • No Impact on Adjacent Teeth: Don't require altering healthy neighboring teeth
  • Improved Oral Health: Easier to clean than bridges or dentures
  • High Success Rate: 95-98% success rate for most patients

The Process

The implant process involves consultation and planning (evaluation, x-rays, 3D imaging), implant placement (surgical placement under local anesthesia), healing period (3-6 months for osseointegration), abutment placement, and crown placement. The entire process typically takes several months.

Are You a Candidate?

Most adults in good health are candidates. Ideal candidates have healthy gums, adequate jawbone density (bone grafting may be an option), good oral hygiene habits, and overall good health. Age is not a barrier—many patients in their 60s, 70s, and 80s successfully receive implants.

Caring for Implants

Implants require the same care as natural teeth: brush twice daily, floss daily, use antimicrobial mouthwash if recommended, and attend regular check-ups. With proper care, implants can last a lifetime.
